Description
Isojamaicin is a prenylated isoflavonoid (isoflavone) isolated from Millettia griffoniana, Milletia dura (Fabaceae), medicinal plants used in African traditional medicine. It shares its molecular formula and structure with durmillone, another isoflavonoid, and both share a characteristic dimethylpyran group fused to the A-ring.
Isojamaicin significantly inhibited PC3 and LNCaP prostate cancer cell growth and proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner, significantly inhibited PC3 clonogenic formation, induced roughly 40% apoptosis in PC3 cells at 30 and 60 μg/mL with increased caspase-3 activity, and inhibited PC3 cell invasion/migration while increasing adhesion to collagen.
