Hexadecanoic acid, also known as palmitic acid, is a saturated fatty acid with significant roles in industrial, biological, and pharmaceutical applications.

It is used as a natural surfactant in emulsification applications, especially in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food, and cleaning products, due to its excellent surface tension reduction, thermal stability, biodegradability, and skin compatibility.
